Dear Mr. LeBreton,
I hope this message finds you well. I have come across a question that has sparked some debate among fellow anglers and crabbers regarding the use of Speckled Trout carcasses for bait. Specifically, there seems to be some uncertainty about whether it is legal to use Speckled Trout carcasses as bait for crabbing or fishing in Louisiana waters.
Some say it is illegal to use Speckled Trout carcasses for any type of bait, while others believe it is permissible. To resolve this matter, I am seeking clarification on the regulations set by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF).
Could you please confirm if it is indeed illegal to use Speckled Trout carcasses as bait? If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you could direct me to the specific section of the LW&F regulations pamphlet or any official documentation where this rule is stated.
Your assistance in providing accurate information on this matter is invaluable, as it will help ensure that all anglers and crabbers are in compliance with state regulations.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
Best regards,
Stanley Fink

Stanley: As long as the speckled trout were legally caught, then you can use the carcasses as bait.
Thanks,
