·         Gather Intel for future trips, and to share with fisherperson, (on Facebook) to help assist them in their choice of areas to fish, lures to use and presentation of same to the elusive Silverwonders.

·         Catch what catch can

·         Learn what learn can

·         Follow up on the successful evening trip Big Don had Wednesday. See fi he located the schools, school house of Silverwonders at Team Jo-Jo spot # 57.

·         Find a spot  # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (This be our challenge for the day, we had lost of it mostly S.E.16-18 mph, no need to try Oak River Troll we would have have doing 5 mph. So we found an area with wind at back and waited them Silverwonders out)

2 MOVING WATER: (Had plenty, pouring in all day, crab traps corks under water moving so hard, needed to find a location to fish in open water to minimize the force of the hard rising tide.)

3 WATER CALRITY: (Another challenge of the day, we had a minus 3 clarity of water, not looking good at all, but fish did not seem to matter to them)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Big Don’s spot # 57, which is actually Team Jo-Jo spot # 51C, (24t) Team Jo-Jo & crew know spot numbers on our map we have them so we can communicate intel / info actually / correctly when we sharing intel. Don’t know what happen, but Big Don’s spot # 57 was actually spot # 51C, had a little mix up, and a wasted run to Four Horse)

5 PATIENTS: (Reached honey hole at 11:20, at 11:20: Big Pablo first cast, w/cork) hooks up with a 20” (NMR) Silverwonder, and it makes it to the box. It was a real slow evening till we hit spot # 51C, and stared to catch a few tight lining ½ oz. jig heads with Matrix Shad Lemon Drop tails on them along the bottom.

6 SKILL: (Tight lining, water moving right to left, throw straight out from stern, far enough to land in 15 feet of water, work lure with a slight jerk up, (wanted to have a free fall effect) move lure off bottom, lure moving up & right to left. Work it up in 15’, let it get to about 30* angle off stern, then work along 15’ to 5-6 feet channel edge up to flat & retrieve all the way back to boat, strike zone just about on that 30* angle.

7 LUCK: (Having a crew that can catch fish, and give me some film footage to post.)

·      Oneofthepack ‘S repertOIRE of TECHNIQUES / PRESENTATIONS:

·         Anchor up cast & retrieve slowly along the bottom, with a twitch every now and then, tight lining…………………………………(24)t , see technique above listed in SKILL)

·         Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H ¼ oz. round white head w/gold hook……………Did not try

·         Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H 3/8 oz. round white head w/gold hook……………DID NOT TRY

·         Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H 1/2 oz. round white head w/gold hook……………Used this because rising tide current was so strong, and we need to make contact with bottom and have lure / rig slow down as it moved right to left with current.)

·         Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with 3/4 oz. round lead head w/ 2 trailers, ……Did not try

·         Tandem rig, ¼ oz. round H&H jig head with gold hook, matched up with Matrix Shad Lemon Drop …..Did not try

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

·         Team Jo-Jo spot number on map 51K (2) t, 57A, 58A, 51A, B, 51C (24) t, stopped fishhg around 5:30 pm, beautiful evening on the water.

OUR REWARDS:

·         L Lived to fish another day

·         (26) Silverwonders, 17 Miniwonders

·         (4) Silverwonders missed at boat

·         (1) Submarine, (aka Big A - - Drum)

·         (2) Submarines hooked up by Big Don, both popped line

·         (2) Gaff Tops, happy to see them in

·         (1) Hardhead

·         Late evening trip, got at honey hole at 11:20 AM, 11:20:32 Big Pablo hook up on first cast, a 20” (NMR) Silverwonder hit the box

·         Being on the water with (2) of the best fisherpersons me know, be they Big Pablo & Big Don

·         Lessons learned:

§  We called Sweetwater to see if they have live shrimp, they text back we have plenty, so we pass on picking shrimp up at Fishermen’s Friend, but when we make it to Sweetwater they have NONE, texted lady back that not good. From now on we buy before we go down to Delacroix.

§  Water clarity was off all over, a 3 minus on a scale of 1-7

§  Water pouring in all day, strong E.S.E. in blowing it in, we left 5:30 PM and it was still boiling in.

§  Me don’t like evening trips, prefer to fish early and fish into bites.

§  Big Don made a trip Wednesday evening, caught (16) NMR Silverwonders, says he in Team Jo-Jo’s spot # 57. Well his post # 57, is not our, (Team Jo-Jo spot # 57), he caught fish at Team Jo-Jo spot # 51C, so we made a run to Four Horse for nothing, We did not even get a bite

§  Tight line technique / presentation working great today

§  Hard to fish, plan, & concentrate when you have (3) captains on board, me had to pull rank and say, we fish where this captain wants to fish. Each of us have spots, various boat positions, and  ideas, but it is hard for me to kept me MOJO going when there is a lot of interference in me catching  planning mind

·         Best fishing trip of me life, until the next one!

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Oneofthepack caught (2) Gaff Tops, me love to see them around, they and Silverwonders travel in same circle, caught a keeper or two, had my share of dinks, but me main objective to was to film crew in action so we could post a trip on U-tube.

Big Don was concerned about getting skunked, he fished hard but it appeared it would never happen, but once we got in position at his spot 57, which is actually 51C he managed to snag a Miniwonders. The he located the strike zone and managed to bring a few in. Big Don hooked up with (2) submarines but he popped line each time, all this effort he still fell little short for honors today.

Big Pablo caught 1st (NMR) Silverwonders, many other Silverwonders, Miniwonders, dominated hard head division, held his own in Gaff Tops, hooked up and landed the submarine, (aka Big A drum) Big Pablo putting on a clinic on how to fish lures in a raging rising tide, strong current, and to get them in the boat and into box. Big Pablo be fisherperson of the day, and he did not have any live shrimp to assist with his efforts today.

SUGGESTIONS:

Me not much on evening trips, me like to fish early and fish into bites, use the whole day if need.

However we / you might want to time your time on water with the major & minor bites, me like to be in honey hole (2) hours before change of tide, and (2) hours after change of tide.

Plus with the heat of the day coming, it might be better to make a late evening trip, you can probably fish till 6:30 PM and still have time to run back in without having to run in dark.

Also might want to brush up on your tight line technique / presentation, as it was working real well today.

PONDER OF THE DAY:

"Somebody just back of you while you are fishing is as bad as someone looking over your shoulder while you write a letter to your fisherperson.”

Q&A:

What fishing lure do you wish a company would make a “smart” version of?

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Me booked up with first mate/s to end of month and 1st week of May, as long as the bites on me know me will always have a fisherpersons to fish with, plus always have Team Jo-Jo crew to go with. Looking forward to new fisherperson that want to learn / share first hand on water the art of fishing & catching, until then:

Good Fishing
