Delacroix fishing & some catching

TEAM JO-JO:

Saturday and Sunday seemed like prime days for fishing, but we had other plans and were content to save our fishing energy for Monday. Our destination was our version of Disney World: Delacroix Island.

Our crew consisted of Sr. first mate Big Don and first mate Big Rudy, both seasoned and reliable companions on our fishing expeditions. They took care of all the essential tasks, including voice-activating the power poles, and handling the unloading and loading of all our gear from the FORD transporter to the Bay Flat Sr. Their efficiency and expertise in preparation, procedures, and protocols ensured everything was set for a successful day on the water.

It's a real pleasure to have a crew that knows all the ropes and is dedicated to achieving the best results. Their commitment to teamwork and attention to detail makes for a fun and relaxing trip for everyone involved. We set off with high hopes and excitement, ready to explore the productive waters of Delacroix Island.

·         Put some run time on the Bay Flat Sr and the Yamaha Dream Machine

·         Gather Intel for future trips, and to share with fisherperson, (on Facebook) to help assist them in their choice of areas to fish, lures to use and presentation of same to the elusive Silverwonders.

·         Catch what catch can.

·         Learn what learn can.

·         Bring home some fish for the ladies who love to eat fish.

·         Try some Team Jo-Jo’s other spot numbers to see if they producing

·         Start June off with a catching type day.

·         Find a spot  # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (No problem perfect wind for areas we fished, helped us do the Oak River Troll technique too.)

2 MOVING WATER: (This criteria was strange, came in all day, but not with much force, current lines to fish where hard to find, but it moved all day.)

3 WATER CALRITY: ( It be a 6 plus, looking great in all areas we fished, Oak River & North / south pipeline was a 3 , you could just start to see the river water mixed in. Point Fienne was a 7 plus.)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Team Jo-Jo spot # 14 & # 2A on map.)

5 PATIENTS: (In honey hole by 6:20, 6:23 Big Rudy brought in Silverwonders, followed by a Redwarrior, slow day had to fish for them, and keep moving to find their hiding places.)

6 SKILL: (Tight ling, use of Tandm rig tightline too)

7 LUCKS: (Having Big Rudy on board, without him we would not have any catching action to video,)

·      Oneofthepack ‘S repertOIRE of TECHNIQUES / PRESENTATIONS:

·         Anchor up cast & retrieve slowly along the bottom, with a twitch every now and then, tight lining…………………………………98% caught this technique / presentation

§  Big Rudy with 3/8  oz. on bottom & ¼ oz. on top, had the Sat Strong doctored Power Prawns in boat jig heads.

§  Me used it some  with 3/8 oz & ¼ oz on top, each jig head had a Matrix Shad lemon drop on it, Big Don used this too.

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Spot # 14 (14)t, 15 (2)t, 6 (2)t, 5, 9 (1)t, 9A, 25,23,21,17, 2A (11)r, 3B, 3A, 3B, 2, 1, 14 (5)T, 15 (3)T , stopped fishing around 12:10. Nice smooth ride back to the home of the Bay Flat Sr.

·         (6) Total mix doubles caught, trout / trout, trout /red, trout / freshwater Drum

·         Bring on the water with 2 of the best fisherpersons me know, that be Big Don & Big Rudy

·         Had a late lunch at Ben’s Pizza, the best bites of the day for all of us.

·         Lessons learned:

§  Learned, (we all knew) but Big Don needed a fresher curse, “Never grab the line when your fish partner has a fish on”. Big Rudy had a double, nice Redwarrior & A freshwater Drum, had trouble getting them over gunnel, Big Don to help, JERkS, (never jerk, just raise them up) them up and popped line.

§  Flounders gone, none today.

§  (NMR) Silverwonders hard to find, but nursery area full off 11 to 12 ½” fishes to play with.

§  Freshwater Drum showing up.

§  Strip Bass in the area.

§  Oak River Troll no work today, perfect conditions but got only a couple of takers with this technique.

§  Those doctored up Salt Strong Power Prawn was the lure of the day, rigged up tandem, caught 90% of fish today. Me stayed true to the Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, me had some action.

·         Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Oneofthepack stayed true to lures, specificity the Matrix Shad Lemond drop, Big Rudy kept offering me the Salt Strong doctored Power Prawn, but me have no confidence in it. My efforts for today feel short, it was more a videoing day a catching day, no honors for me today.

Big Don had some dead shrimp, looked like they were boiled they so old, (think they came from Noah’s Arch freezer)  kept telling him he needs to buy fresh dead shrimp for each trip, but he too has a head like me.

Big Don was struggling today, dominated catfish category, got on a few fish but he did not pick up on catching to Big Rudy gave him (2) doctored power prawns for his tandem rig. Me have to say it improved his catching experience, but too little to late it be, plus me had to deduct(10) points from him for popping  Big Rudy’s line with a nice red & freshwater drum on it, Big Don does not get honors today.

Big Rudy be the man today, without him we would not have had any catching video to share with the fisherpersons today. Big Rudy caught first fish, first red, most Silverwonders, most Redwarriors, dominated the stripe bass, freshwater drum, and Sting Rays, he even managed to not catch a catfish today. Big Rudy was fisherperson of the day.

SUGGESTIONS:

Live bait and fresh dead shrimp may be needed from now on, lures may be fading out, and we be catching less.

Get an early start, catch early, come in early to beat the heat!!!!!!

PONDER OF THE DAY:

I’m glad tomorrow’s a new fishing day cause I really messed this one up

Q&A:

How do you manage catch less?

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Nothing plan, Thursday, Friday open, Saturday a may be with Sonofthepack & his crew, opportunities are possible, just need to di it, until then:

Good Fishing
