Team Jo-Jo
Crew,
During our last Team Jo-Jo Fishing Curriculum Session, we had a great discussion about our favorite knots for tying lures and hooks. I demonstrated my go-to knot but couldn't recall its name at the time. Big Hugh was kind enough to email me a picture of the knot, which turns out to be the "Improved Clinch Knot." This is the knot I've been using for over 40 years for all my lures, hooks, and even for joining mono to braid.
Back when I first learned it at a sportsmen show in the Superdome, my knot didn't hold well. The person at the booth advised me to go through the eye twice (as shown by the red line in exhibit “1”). Since then, I've been calling it the "improved, improved knot." It's quick and easy to tie and has never failed me since.
Also suggest when cutting tag line leave a 1/16 of inch tag, don’t cut tight to knot, leave a little so when fish fight and knot tightening up it will not come undone.
Good Fishing
