SKUNKED in LAKE P

TEAM JO-JO:

                                  

Team Jo-Jo, Big Rudy & Oneofthepack where well aware of the conditions, (weather)  for today’s (Thursday) trip, but all we could see & feel was those BIG girls hitting our Lake p Troll rigs on our past Monday.

 

Trip expectations:

·         North wind 22-26 mph, we felt the Bay Flat Jr could handle this wind, because it was offshore also felt we could troll from FB-1 to Fb-5 with no problems from wind.

·         Rough water

·         Hot temperature day

·         Water clarity a 7 plus

·         Water temperature in the 70’s

·         Loons be out and about

·         Falling tide

·         Silverwonders on a feeding frenzy

Actual conditions:

·         Wind as expected, and some

·         Bay Flat Jr handle wind

·         Rough water for Bay Flat Jr no problem

·         Hot , no way it was cold, me had jumpsuit & rain suite on to keep warm

·         Water clarity a 2 minus, not good

·         Water temp 62.1 F

·         Loons all over the place, flocks of them on top of the water

·         Rising tide hard rising tide

·         Silverwonders no ware to be found

                                  

SIGNS:                            

 

·         Wednesday picks up Bay Flat Sr brought back to Cypress Cove to fix shift handle could not shift motor after 1100-hour service.

·         Picked up Bay Flat Sr today brought back down to Delacroix

·         Rough sleeping Wednesday night

·         Up at 5 AM for 6 AM meet up at The Pointe

·         Big Rudy right on time, loaed up his gear into Bay Flat Jr

·         He backed me & her into water

·         One pull on Yamaha Nightmare Machine and she fired right up

·         Off to FB-2 in Lake P along trestles top start our fun day of fishing

·         Water status / conditions: slight to heavy chop, nice and calm n (LSE)

·         Sky, overcast

·         Temp, cold, had jumpsuit & raincoat on all day

·         Water level, down 2-3”

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (It was a little challenge, but we had an offshore wind so it was not that bad, we could troll from FB-1 to FB-5 with no problem, heading north or south to troll.

2 MOVING WATER: (Coming in, not me favorite but we fish what we got.

3 WATER CALRITY: (2 minus in Lakep P, and 6 plus in Lakeshore, looking good,)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Kenny’s Seafood)

5 PATIENCES: (Did not have much today, called it around 7:45 AM, wanted to get Bay Flar Sr back down to Delacroix)

6 SKILL: (Knowing when to fold)

7 LUCKS: (No get wet, boat no sink, had a fishing trip and got Bay Flat Sr back down to Delacroix)

OUR REWARDS:

 

·         Lived to fish another day.

·         Lots of cool fresh air in our lungs

·         We went because “You got to go to know”, did not take long for us to know, we moved on to plan “B” troll Lakeshore Estates canal system, but we had same type luck, got skunked there too.

·         Being on the water with one of the best fisherpersons me know that be Big Rudy

·         Picked up Bay Flat Sr. brought her back to her home in Delacroix, we now have options to fish from Lake P to Delacroix.

·         All the fired chicken you can eat, stopped at Penny’s Café on way home, it all be good, if only the fish bit that way.

·         Lessons learned:

§  Too much wind

§  Bay Flat Jr an handle todays conditions at least out to north draw bridge

§  Dirty water, think dirty still next Wednesday

§  Lake P troll along trestles not working today

§  Lakeshore Estate canal system not producing either for us, not a bite / strike did we get.

§  Silverwonders on strike

§  Our time better spent picking up Bau Flat Sr and bring her back down to Delacroix.

·         Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.
