Skunked down in Delacroix

TEAM JO-JO:

🎣 Team Jo-Jo Trip Log – Tuesday 4/8/35 🎣Mission: Hunt for Silverwonders & Redwarriors

Team Jo-Jo finally got what we've been prayin’ for—a day where the wind gods decided to take a nap. So naturally, the crew assembled like clockwork. Big Rudy, Big Ronnie (aka Indian Ron), and yours truly, Oneofthepack, all set sights on our beloved Disney World of fishing—Delacroix Island, for what we hoped would be a memory-making day aboard the Bay Flat Sr.

The plan? Simple but mighty.Target: The elusive and ever-glorious Silverwonders and the tail-thumpin’ battlers known as Redwarriors.Attitude: Optimistic, enthusiastic… borderline overconfident in Big Ronnie’s case.

He came aboard with a sparkle in his eye and declared boldly, “We goin’ for the limit today, boys!”Me? I just smiled and said, “Well, at least if we don’t, you won’t be disappointed.”He grinned back and replied, “Sure.”That there was a classic pre-trip dance—hope vs. experience.

But then came a slight hiccup—our seasoned first mate, Big Rudy, had to bow out last minute. Life tossed him a curveball that needed immediate handling. Not ideal, but that’s how the tides roll. Still, we missed his presence, his net skills, and that steady hand on the deck. Trip without Big Rudy feels like gumbo without the roux, but we pressed on.

With the Bay Flat Sr purring like a kitten, rods rigged, gear stowed, and that familiar hum of the Delacroix marsh filling the air, we launched into what we hoped would be a productive and peaceful springtime pursuit.

Wind down? Check.Spirits high? Check.Fish ready? To be determined.

Stay tuned… more to come from the water’s edge as we recount what unfolded next on this fine Tuesday adventure.

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Team Jo-Jo spot #51C,A, 51k, r12, r8,7a,b,c,d,I,51c,a,53,54,15,14,5,6,25,24,22,21,16, 2a, called it a day around noon 30.

60 plus miles running around checking out what other spot numbers looked like, and clarity of water had a 1 on a scale of 1-7 bad it bee.

OUR REWARDS:

·         Lived too fish another day.

·         (0) Silverwonders

·         (0) Redwarriors

·         (2) Freshwater cats

·         Me skunked, not even a bite

·         Me so much wanted to feel the tap, but after (3) hours without a bite. Me feel the only way to feel a tap was to ask Big Ronnie to tap the tip of my pole which he did, not the same but it will have to do.

·         Being on the water with one of the best fisherpersons me know, that be Big Ronnie

·         Peanut butter & jelly sandwich along with some Zaps potato chips. Thanks, Big Ron & petite Gloria me needed that.

·         Snowbird day, sunny & clear, cold, low water & dirty water all over from Grand Lagoon to North/South pipeline & Oak River, we ran over 60 miles trying to find clean water to fish & catch. These conditions are not my favorite by any means.

·         Lessons learned:

§  Grand Lagoon can have dirty water too, it was a 1 plus on a scale of 1-7.

§  Lake John, Four Horse, By Shallow, Bay Fausan, and north/south pipeline very dirty, a solid  1 on scale of 1-7.

§  Water fell 2.61, very high winds, all contributed to all the dirty water we encountered e today

·         Confirmed me hast a west wind, any kind of a west wind, which we had some today.

·         Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

It hurt to lose honors today by (2) catfish, but so it be Big Rin fisherperson of the day.

Oneofthepack got skunked, again, nothing new, use to it!!!!!!

SUGGESTIONS:

Might want to wait till water clarity improves.

PONDER OF THE DAY:

"The fish sees the worm, not the hook; a man sees not the danger, only the profit."

Q&A:

What is your catching language?

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:
