Skunked donw Delacroix way!!!!

TEAM JO-JO:

Team Jo-Jo Trip Log – Saturday 5/3/25🎣 “Family, Fun & First Casts”

Today’s crew aboard the Bay Flat Sr was a very special one — none other than Grandsonofthepack, Big William, and his teammate and fishing buddy, Big Kennedy.

Been working on locking in a trip with Big William for quite a while now, but as anyone who knows him can tell you — basketball rules the schedule these days. Between practices, games, and team obligations, carving out a window to hit the water hasn’t been easy.

But when the stars aligned and Big William finally had a break, we jumped on the opportunity. No way we were passing up a chance to get the next generation of anglers back on the water — especially to our home turf, Delacroix Island — aka Disney World for Team Jo-Jo.

With the rods rigged, snacks packed, and energy high, we set off with smiles, tight lines, and high hopes. The day was more than just about catching fish — it was about making memories, passing down traditions, and giving the young bucks a taste of what Team Jo-Jo lives for.

Mission Objective:🎯 Introduce the next generation to the magic of Delacroix, chasing Silverwonders & Redwarriors with heart, hustle, and a whole lot of laughter.

·         Off to Team Jo-Jo’s  spot # 51K to start our day nothing

·         Decided to see how many boats at 51C, 7:10 AM and not a boat in sight, we set up in our usual position, tail end of falling tide, slack, turned and came in, felt we might get lucky, but not a bite in 2 plus hours, crew hanged in there and fished hard,

·      Oneofthepack ‘S repertOIRE of LURE DU JOUR:

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Team Jo-Jo spot # 51K, L, C, A, B, 53, 54, 6, 5, 15, 14, 2, 1, 21, 17, 2A, called it a day around 10:33:22, just knew me was not going to make it happen, me bad.

OUR REWARDS:

  • ✅ Lived to fish another day – Always #1 on the board. Safety first, stories second.

  • 🐟 (0) Silverwonders – The queens of Delacroix stayed off the dance floor.

  • 🐟 (0) Redwarriors – Not a scale in sight.

  • 😼 (1) Hardhead – Snagged, not caught... but we’ll take it!

  • 🍳 Great breakfast at Waffle House – Classic tradition, always a highlight.

  • 🎣 (1) Extra pole – Carried, not needed — but made us feel prepared.

  • ✂️ No popped lines – Smooth gear work all around.

  • 🧶 No tangled lines – Big win, especially with a young enthusiastic crew onboard.

  • 🧭 Lots of running around – Burned gas, scouted water, made memories.

  • 🍔 Great lunch at Penny’s Café – Comfort food for a crew that gave it their all.

  • 🌧 Rain on the ride home – But guess what? We stayed bone dry. Chalk one up for perfect timing!

LESSONS LEARNED (OR REINFORCED):

  • 🧥 Dress warm, always. Layers are your friend. You can always take ‘em off — but if you don’t bring ‘em, and it’s cold? You're in for a long day.

  • 🥴 Partying all night before a trip? Not a great strategy. Learned that lesson years ago, still true today.

  • 📍 Team Jo-Jo spot #51C — Was once fire, now ice cold. Perfect tide (tail end of the fall, slack, then incoming) and still not a single bite after 2+ hours of working the zone.

  • 🗺 Tried Zones 1, 2, 3, and 4 – nada, zilch, not even a tap. That catfish? Not a bite — me snagged him by accident!

  • 🦐 Shrimp still missing in action. Word is they’re late, and that’s likely why the fish aren’t feeding heavy and the water's still a bit off. Patience, grasshopper.

  • 🔥 Meanwhile, Lake P trestles are ON FIRE. Reports say big girls still hanging around — live shrimp is the golden bait.

  • 🎞 Crew was doubting if we ever catch anything at all… so me added a few friendly photo reminders to the end of the video — let’s just say, the archives don’t lie! (Might not be this trip, but proof is proof!)

CLOSING THOUGHT:

No fish? No problem. When you’re out with Grandsonofthepack and friends, every trip is golden — even if the only thing you hook is a memory.

Best fishing trip of my life… until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Fishes win today, but we will double up on them next time.

SUGGESTIONS:

Don’t do, use, fish they way we did today!

PONDER OF THE DAY:

“A Fisherperson is a great catcher not because he hasn’t caught; a fisherperson great because catch less hasn’t stopped him”

Q&A:

What do a lot of fisherperson hope will happen but is just not going to happen?

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Next up be Big Matt, not sure where we will go, but we will be out and about Wednesday for sure, until then:

Good Fishing
