Redless day Delacroix way

TEAM JO-JO:

Big Rudy & Oneofthepack left the dock still shaking our heads from the previous evening’s adventure on 8/20/25. We had set out with high hopes of timing the bites with the change of tide, thinking we could outsmart the fish and finally catch that magic window. Instead, we ended up riding home with that uneasy feeling of being just a cast short, just a tide turns off, just not satisfied.

So what do two hardheaded anglers do when the water teases but doesn’t deliver? Easy answer: we make another run. Our compass once again pointed us to our version of Disney World — Delacroix Island, the happiest marsh on earth.

This time the mission was clear: forget about the Silverwonders — they’ve packed up and left the neighborhood we’d be fishing in. No use chasing ghosts. Our eyes were locked on those elusive Redwarriors. They’ve been giving us the slip, hiding somewhere in that endless maze of grass beds, ponds, and cuts. We wanted to figure them out, crack the code, and maybe even bend a few rods hard enough to make up for yesterday’s quiet ride home.

The plan: work the tide turns, watch the water movement, and stay flexible. We knew going in wasn’t going to be a numbers game. This was a hunt, pure and simple.

And while others see mud, grass, and mosquitoes, we see the magic. The way the sun rises on the marsh, the push of a bait school ahead of a red’s back, the swirl in a pocket that wasn’t there a second ago. That’s why we are going back. That’s why we’ll always go back.
