TEAM JO-JO:
TEAM JO-JO:
Big Jimmy and Oneofthepack have been trying to hook up for months, but doctor’s appointments, health issues, and even work played a role in our ability to produce a date. We scheduled the trip a week and a half ago, hoping our vintage bodies would finally be in tune with each other for a trip, and today, Sunday, is that day.
At our Team Jo-Jo Fishing Curriculum Session on Saturday, I communicated with Big Rudy, asking if he could join us. I was concerned about Big Jimmy and his ability to get around, hoping Big Rudy could help with that and also help fill the ice chest with fish. Big Rudy said no problem, and I thought, great.
It was agreed with the crew that we would talk on Saturday to make sure we were good to go. Big Rudy called first and asked, "What do you think?" I asked him, "What do you think?" He mentioned the 70% chance of rain and asked what I thought. I replied, "You know how I roll." "Yessums," he said, so I told him to meet me at Waffle House at 4:30 AM.
Next, I called Big Jimmy. He asked if we were still on, and I mentioned the 70% chance of rain, asking what he wanted to do. He responded, "What do you want to do?" I told him to make the call, and he said, "If you're going, I'm going." I said, "You make the call," and he confirmed, "I'm going." I replied, "Waffle House at 4:30 AM."

· Find a spot # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:
1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (This criterion was perfect, had a slight off left shoulder wind, not a factor in catching today. At one point we used it for doing Oak River Troll.)
2 MOVING WATER: (Don’t get any better tail end of rising tide, start of falling tide, perfect it be)
3 WATER CALRITY: (A 3 plus, could see lure down 6-8” but lost it quickly after that.)
4 HOLDING FISH: (Team Jo-Jo spot # 21 on our map)
5 PATIENTS: (In honey hole at 06:39. 06:41 first cast BAM!!!!!! Missed it reeling in, next cat BAM 20” Redwarrior, then wind stopped water moving, moved around to kept crew interested until tide started to fall, once this happen it was on, on, on,)
6 SKILL: (Tight lining lures along bottom, combination presentation, bouncing lure along bottom as it moved right to left, keeping tight line after each twitch, twitch say we, just a little twitch it be, get the tap set the hook)
7 LUCKS: (We did not get wet too much, just enough to keep us cool all day.)
· Oneofthepack’s repertoire of Techniques / presentations:
· Anchor up cast & retrieve slowly along the bottom, with a twitch every now and then, tight lining…………………………………100% caught this way.
· Drift with the wind cast & retrieve (DWWC&R)……………DID NOT TRY
· Oak River Troll (ORT)……………….One hit, but that hit told me a lot of information / intel did it.
· Reverse Oak River Troll (RORT) ……….DID NOT TRY
· Oak River Skim (ORS) ……………Did not try.
· Cork …….Nothing
· Lake P Troll (LPT)…………….Did not try.
· Drop shot: Did not try.

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:
Team Jo-Jo spot # 21 (3)r, 22, 23, 21 (18)r, stopped fishing around 11:30 head back to home port, smooth ride it be, but got lost in Little Lake coming back, Big Rudy had to look up on one to get us back in.
OUR REWARDS:
· Lived to fish another day.
· (0) Silverwonders
· (21) Redwarriors
· (1) Redwarrior lost at boat
· (1) Submarine aka Big Ass Drum
· (1) Crab
· (4) extra poles
· (4) Tangled lines hard to fish a hard current with 3 in boat, lures always tangle as we work them through the strike zone
· (3) Oyster cluster shells
· (8) Popped lines on bottom
· (1) Bushel of grass
· Being on the water with 2 of the best fisherpersons me know, that be Big Rudy & Big Jimmy
· No food, no drinks, fish & catch was our day.
· Big Jimmy & Oneofthepack ½ hour at meet up, so Big Jimmy bought breakfast, (Waffle House) for us both, wonderful way to start the day.
· Me got lost in little lake, Big Rudy had to open his phone and get us back to bayou Gently.
· Lessons learned:
§ Lots of hang ups, old oyster shell clusters, need plenty jig heads.
§ Confirm “You got to go to know” predicted rain, (70%) did not happen, got only a shower or two.
§ ½ oz. jig heads needed to get to bottom to keep lure gliding along bottom with current
§ Matrix Shad Lemon Drop was very productive today for sure.
§ Me think a rising tide brings more action than a falling tide.
· Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.
FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:
Big Jimmy struggled today, he had a tough time of getting the feeling & presentation of lure, we rigged him with ½ oz. jig head, bam he hooked one up got it to the boat and Redwarrior got off at boat. We moved him to the back of boat next to strike zone, me sat next to him trying to teach / show him the technique & presentation but nothing seem to work. Arranged one of my rods to left hand operation and gave that to him, but he said it felt better but still no action. Big Jimmy got a BIG “E” for effort.
At first Big Rudy was having his struggle get on them, but me knew it would be happening for him soon, once he got in the strike zone, it was on, on, on, even caught a variety of catches, reds, drum, crab. & bottom. But me think he fell a little short of the honors to Day.
Today be Oneofthepack type day, (nice to be captain and make the decisions) caught 1st Redwarrior, and the next 7-8 ones too. Me managed to keep pace after that once the tide turned. Me get the honors today.
SUGGESTIONS:
Weather predictions are just those predictions, “You got to go to know” keeping safety in mind. Many time we go out with unbelievably bad predictions, but those turn into winners and great memories, but at Delacroix the only thing me worry about is lighting, as it is a very protected area to fish, re: wind, & storms.
Catching just starting, catching will only get better and last until mid / late June. Time to go fishing.
Take a ride to Gus’s net & tackle on Hwy 433 stock up on your fishing tackle get them while they ware available bet the crowd, look for his October evet coming up. Do not forget your ½ oz. jig heads,
PONDER OF THE DAY:
"I am not against golf, since I cannot suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering Silverwonders."
Q&A:
What was the craziest fishing bet you’ve ever made?
TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:
Was looking to do a repeat Monday but Big Rudy could not make it, so no plans so far this week, Loveofthepack still out of town, so me looking for first mate that want to jump on board the Bay Flat Sr and see if we can catch some fishers, until then:
Good Fishing
