TEAM JO-JO:
After attending our Team Jo-Jo Fishing Curriculum Session #8 on Saturday, I just knew it was going to lead to a fishing trip right after the meeting. First mate Big Rudy, newcomer Big Barrett, and I decided to head out on Sunday. Our plan was to load up the Bay Flat Sr and fish Delacroix to see what was up. · Early start, early in to beat heat, we lasted till around 10:0 AM
· Bring home some fishes for Big Yana
· Find a spot # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:
1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (We had a cross wind, bucking incoming tide, but it was not enough wind to cause us any concern)
2 MOVING WATER: (Coning I all day, strong current, wind pick up current slowdown)
3 WATER CALRITY: ( Me felt this was our challenge for the day, being a 2 plus not me favorite clarity to fish)
4 HOLDING FISH: (Team Jo-J’s spot # 21)
5 PATIENTS: (Spot 6, 5, 15, 2A, and 17 with no action, me thinking , (patients wearing thin) it going to be as real quick trip, crew and me remain focused as we always had plan “A” to pursue)
6 SKILL: (Thigh Lining lures along bottom up drop offs, avoiding hang ups on bottom & oyster shells)
7 LUCKS: (Having / pursuing plan “B”)

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:
Team Jo-Jo spots # 6, 5, 15, 2A, 17, 21 Lat spot we fished, left them biting at around 10:10 got too hot for me.
OUR REWARDS:
· Lived to fish another day.
· (0) Silverwonders
· (37) Redwarriors
· (1) Submarine, (aka Drum)
· (1) Crab
· (3) Gaff Tops
· (2) Lines popped big fish
· (4) Bottoms, popped line
· (1) Piece of crab trap
· (2) Bushels of mushy grass, black looking grass
· (2) Extra poles
· (4) Tangled lines, had a cross wind coupled with a hard incoming tide / current
· Being on the water with (2) of the best fisherpersons me know, that be Big Rudy & Big Barrett.
· Lessons learned:
§ Water clarity in Team J-Jo zone 1 & 2, a 2 plus, not looking good.
§ Redwarriors showing up early.
§ Matrix Shad Lemon Drop lure of the day, no Power Prawns w/yellow tail today.
§ Needed ½ oz. jig heads, as current was a little strong.
§ It is still hot out there.
§ Last time out with Big Pablo & Big Charlie, had caught (1) Redwarrior in rea we fished, but this knowledge led us to fish that area today. Team Jo-Jo fishing diary was also an asset in choosing areas to fish.
· Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.
FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:
Oneofthepack dominated Gaff Tops even with lures, caught me share of Redwarriors , managed to film, net, and narrate trip, but theses efforts fell a little short for honors today.
Big Barrett took awhile to get in game, was having some tackle issues, lost his first hook up, popped his line with big one, but once Big Rudy ties on a ½ oz. jig head gave him a new Matrix Shad Lemon Head he was in and on the action. But by this time Big Rudy was in the zone and bringing in Redwarriors one after another, however he too feels short of the honor today.
Big Rudy, Oneofthepack and Big Barrett had him boxed in amidship, Big Barrett had the bow, me had the stern, Big Rudy had a very tight window to fish, Big Rudy once he found the strike zone he b on, on, on, catching Redwarriors, Drum, crabs, biggest fish , last fish, most fish, his only doubts for the day, was he would not make it happen with his favorite lure Salt Strong Power Prawn. But he definitely be fisherperson of this day 4 sure!
SUGGESTIONS:
Gather up all your gear, service it and get ready for the fall run. It will be here sooner than later.
“You got to go to know.”
PONDER OF THE DAY:
"Do not tell fish stories where the people know you. Particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.”
Q&A:
What is one thing that you wish more women understood about fishermen?
TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:
Nothing plan, doctors Monday, Loveofthepack leaving Tuesday on her journey to Greece, me be bachelor for around (15) days, cards, fishing , and relaxing in front of the TV be me plan while she be going. Hope to back on water soon, until then:
Good Fishing
