Monday blues Delacroix way

TEAM JO-JO:

With first mate big Jimmy by me side, Monday's fishing excursion is bound to be a memorable one. Having navigated the waters on the Bay Flat Sr & Jr numerous times, Big Jimmy brings a wealth of experience to the table, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable trip. As we venture into Delacroix, the hunt for Silverwonders and Redwarroies adds an element of anticipation and excitement.

Considering me expertise and Big Jimmy's familiarity with the area, we might employ a combination of tried-and-true techniques like tight lining or cork fishing, leveraging the knowledge gained from past successful outings. However, staying flexible to adapt to changing conditions and recent fishing trends could also lead to a bountiful catch.

The added motivation of preparing a delicious feast for Big Jimmy's family and friends further heightens the stakes, turning the fishing expedition into a rewarding culinary adventure. With the right strategies and a bit of luck, we poised for a day filled with camaraderie, exploration, and, hopefully, a boatload of prized catches to delight everyone back on shore.

·         Get Big Jimmy back out on the water

·         See if the Silverwonders still stacked up at Team Jo-Jo’s  spots 51A, B, C, & D

·         Bring home some filets for Big Jimmy & Family

·         Find a spot  # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (This be our challenge for the day, lots of wind, and we had to fish a wind blowing on a 45* angle into our face, made it hard for casting and feeling lure along the bottom. Also negated our ability to run around, to rough it be, did not want to pound Big Jimmy all up, stayed in this area all trying to make it happen.)

2 MOVING WATER: (Slack tide at first, then came in, came in all morning, but it did not look right, had foam build up on top?????)

3 WATER CALRITY: (Thus criteria too was our challenge for the day, it was a 2 plus, not looking good at all, took the wind out of me sails for sure.)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Team Jo-Jo spot # 51 A)

5 PATIENTS: (First cast a real BIG Stingray, and that is how our day went, on thing worst them catching a flounder is catching a stingray on first cast, that be a sign, water not right)

6 SKILL: (Tight lining along bottom up and down drop offs)

7 LUCK: (Catching what we caught)

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Spot # 51A, 51K (2)t, 51A (6)t, 51C, 51B (2)t, 51A (2)t, stopped fishing around 11:20, just felt me was not going to be able to make it happen.

OUR REWARDS:

·         Lived to fish another day

·         (12) Silverwonders, 7 Miniwonders

·         (1) Gar

·         (1) Stingray

·         (1) Fresh water cat

·         (1/2) bushel of grass

·         (1) extra poles, me did this one

·         Lots of fresh air

·         Being on the water with one of the best fisherperson me know, that be Big Jimmy

·         Made a stop at Penny’s on way home for lunch, they be closed on Monday

·         Next up RAVE for lunch, not to me liking, told Big Jimmy best thing about our meal was that he bought it.

·         Monday night card game, had 6, need to find a few ore players

·         Lessons learned:

§  Once you think you figured them out, them prove you wrong

§  No low tide today, this a fist for me

§  Tight lining still productive

§  ½ oz. jig head works well with strong current

§  With high winds current lines hard to locate & identify

§  Catching a Stingray on first cast still not a good sign this be

§  Water clarity, quality, and condition not looking right / good, just could not put me finger on problem, and / or figure it out????????

·         Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Me think the fishes took the honors today, they got to eat and avoid all we had to offer them.

Big Jimmy was all in, he kept throwing, reeling, jerking, bouncing those lures all over the bottom, top, and all points in-between, head managed a few dinks, and lost his only keeper at the boat. Plus he was no shy about trying every lure in his brand new tackle box. Plus me think he was a little wore out from his Saturday trip to Venice, where they wore out the Redwarroies.

Oneofthepack was almost none of the pack, even with me 78 years, (50 plus in Delacroix) of fishing experience me cold not make it happen today. Today’s results this be all on me.

SUGGESTIONS:

Sometimes even believing does not help with catching, but don’t ever stop believing you can make it happen under any / all conditions, because the fish don’t know better do they?

PONDER OF THE DAY:

“It is impossible to grow weary of a sport that is never the same on any two days of the year.”

Q&A:

What was the biggest realization you had about your fishing self?

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Tayler & friend, (Tulane students me meet) up next, still trying to nail down a day, until then:

Good Fishing
