🎓 P.S. — CCA Seminar Recap:
Attended the CCA seminar at Mossy car dealership in Picayune, Mississippi last night. Big Mike Gallo was the guest speaker, and he got into the weeds on all things Speckled Trout:
Spawning
Spawning vs. salinity
Stock assessment
Overfished vs. overfishing
Stock recovery
Length of fish vs. egg production
Habitat loss
Marsh estuary value
Trout migration patterns
Mike’s presentation was very informative and educational, and he delivered it all from memory — no notes, no video, just raw knowledge straight from the head. It was like his internal GPS had everything saved.
Big thanks to Big Mike for sharing his experience and wisdom.
Mike also recommended checking out the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries site for more info:
❓ A Great Question Raised:
One fisherperson asked:"Why such a difference in limit and size for Speckled Trout between Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas?"
We didn’t get a clear, decisive answer — so I chimed in.
My take:Louisiana’s estuary, marsh, brackish water, and abundant fin/shrimp bait make it a more fertile, productive system — capable of supporting more , stock recovery, fish and bigger limits.
What do you say about this topic?
Good Fishing,
