Team Jo-Jo Crew,📍 Delacroix Marshlands Navigation & Fishing Strategy Update🗓️ Dated: April 29, 2025
As we continue our pursuit of the elusive Silverwonders and mighty Redwarriors, it’s critical that all Team Jo-Jo members—new and seasoned—get familiar with the lay of the land (or water, in our case). To that end, please find attached two key maps that are essential tools for any successful trip out of Delacroix:
🧭 1. Team Jo-Jo’s Major Routes Map
These highlighted routes are the primary arteries we use to navigate our “Milk Runs” throughout the marsh. Over time, we’ve learned that knowing and mastering these safe, efficient passages gives us a huge advantage in both navigation and time management on the water.
These routes serve as reliable guides even in changing conditions or low visibility.
Memorizing them helps prevent getting lost in Delacroix’s ever-shifting marsh terrain.
Always aim for a distant landmark—a tree line, levee break, camp roof, or a flicker of marsh light at night. These visual cues are gold when crossing open water.
🗺️ 2. Team Jo-Jo’s Fishing Zone Layout Map
Delacroix is vast, so we’ve broken it into five distinct fishing zones (Zones 1 through 5). Each time we head out, we choose one zone to concentrate our efforts on, based on weather, tide, wind, recent success, and scouting reports.
Zone 5 has been the hottest lately—our “Hot Tam Jo-Jo” zone—producing consistent action and quality fish across our marked spot numbers.
Using this system helps us organize our trips, share intel, and ensure we’re all fishing smart—not just hard.
💡 Pro Navigation Tip
Delacroix has changed dramatically over the last 5 years due to erosion, storms, and marsh loss. Where there was land, now there's water. Channels have shifted. Islands have vanished.
When in doubt:
Stick to a major route.
Mark your GPS trails.
Communicate with fellow Team Jo-Jo members on the water.
Always prioritize safety over shortcuts.
📢 Join Us: Team Jo-Jo Fishing Curriculum Session #5
📍 Fatty’s Seafood Restaurant, Gause Blvd, Slidell📅 Saturday, May 17th, 2025🕚 11:00 AM (Dutch Treat Lunch)
At this meeting, we’ll review the maps together, walk through the strategy of selecting a fishing zone, discuss how to navigate in tough conditions, and share hot spot updates from recent trips.
This is also a great chance for newer members to ask questions, for veterans to share knowledge, and for all of us to build our confidence in navigating the waters and locating fish.
🎣 Remember, it’s not just about the fish—it’s about the journey, the knowledge, the friendships, and the memories made along the way.
See you on the water—or at Fatty’s!
