TEAM JO-JO:
We've been trying to make a trip happen for a while now, but Big Hugh, being a working man, can only go on weekends. The same goes for Big Mike. However, today, Big Mike had other commitments, so it ended up being a duo trip with just Big Hugh and me. We decided to head out to Lake Pontchartrain to try the Lake P troll challenge and hit the trestles in search of some Silverwonders and Redwarriors.
With the sun just starting to rise, we loaded up our gear and launched Bay Flat Jr., eager to take on the challenge. The weather was perfect: calm waters, a light breeze, and clear skies. As we approached the trestles, we could feel the excitement building. This spot has a reputation for being tricky, but we were up for the challenge.
We set our lines and began the troll, moving slowly and methodically along the structure of the trestles. The water clarity was excellent, and we could see schools of fish darting beneath us. It wasn't long before we got our first hit. The rod bent sharply, and the reel started to sing. Big Hugh was the first to react, expertly handling the rod and setting the hook.
The fight was on. After a few intense minutes, we landed our first Silverwonder of the day, a beautiful specimen glistening in the morning sun. The excitement was contagious, and we knew we were in for a good day.

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (Wind not a factor it be offshore breeze, nice it be, plus we be doing Lake p Troll, wind does not impact this technique.)
2 MOVING WATER: (Tail end of falling tide, went slack, then started to come in, perfect it be)
3 WATER CALRITY: (A 6 little sandy looking, Fb-2 to Fb-5 was a 7 plus, clarity did not seem to matter for the fishes.)
4 HOLDING FISH: (FB-2 to FB-5, just loaded up all along trestles.)
5 PATIENTS: (Lake P Troll rig in water at 5:49, 5:51 we had a double hook up, each of us with a double Silverwonders on our lines. It was on, on, on, on from 5:49 to 6:51, then it was off, off, off, the rest of the day.)
6 SKILL: (Lake P Troll technique / presentation)

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:
Started out at FB-2 out to FB-5, just kept making that run (3) times, but by this time boast showed up and kept shorting our run to where could no longer troll. Before we started our three runs, we already had (31) Silverwonders, from then on it was slow. Headed out to mile marker 174 and out pass mile marker 175 without a strike. WE turned around and trolled back in, then made (2) passes along FB-5 to FB-2 on east side of trestles as too many boats on west wide. Stopped for the day around 10:30 came in.
OUR REWARDS:
· Lived to fish another day.
· (36) Silverwonders, 30 Miniwonders
· (7) Flounders
· (3) Hard Head cats
· Lost BIG NMR at boat, BI Hugh was not the same after that lost.
· Had 8-10 double hook up’s today with double fish online, the action was great.
· Lost (6) trolling rigs, mostly popped lines with fish.
· (4) Hang ups on bottom and/or pilings, no pop lines.
· Had a great breakfast abord the Bay Flat Jr, cold fried chicken as provided by Big Hugh, along with some chilly water, thanks man me needed that.
· Being on the water with one of the best fisherpersons me know he b Big Hugh
· Lessons learned:
§ Early start was the key, 05:49 to 06:51 action / catching was on, on, on,
§ Tail end of falling tide, slack, hen started to come in, me think this best tide conditions anytime.
§ If you have rods & reels and have not used them in months, best to re-rig / re-tie lines, a lot of my rigs just popped with fish on.
§ Fish can be caught a good distance from trestles, (to many boats for us to troll close to trestles) which was where the flounders were today.
· Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.
FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:
Big Hugh got us started first, me right behind him, action was fast and furious Silverwonders coming in on both sides of the Bay Flat Jr.
It was close but me think Big Hugh be fisherperson of the day, because he brought breakfast , (me favorite fried chicken) for us to eat.
SUGGESTIONS:
Early bird gets the worm, those that came out after 6:51 AM missed the crazy 50 minutes feed / bites.
Get a real early start & catch the change of tide!!!!!!!!!!!!
PONDER OF THE DAY:
"Early to bed…early to rise…fish all day…make up lies.”
Q&A:
Can you list five red flags that you look out for when meeting new friends or potential fishing partners?
TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:
Nothing planned, Sunday no go crawfish boil at Chalmette Track Club, Monday a with , (maybe) Big Rudy, rest of the week all open Bay Flat Jr. & Sr., first mates welcome abord.
Good Fishing
