Lake P Troll vs. Lake P

TEAM JO-JO:
Saturday, Oneofthepack received some solid intel on Lake P—just the kind of inside scoop that gets the adrenaline pumping. After getting skunked at MRGO on Friday, me was itching to redeem meself, hot to trot on catching something, anything, to shake off the sting of a slow day.
First move—texted Big Rudy to see if he was game for a Sunday trip. He called back, but no go; he was already locked in with Big Barrett for a Delacroix run. No worries, though, we locked in a trip for Tuesday instead.
Next up—me reached out to me Sr. first mate, Big Don. Gave him the rundown on the fresh intel, explained the plan to assault Eastofmrgo’s (RIP) favorite 5-mile reef, better known as the Lake P trestles. “Sounds good,” says he, and just like that, we had a crew for Sunday.
With the first mate secured, it was time for a full gear shift. Had to re-rig and re-arrange Bay Flat Jr., swapping out the jerk bait technique/presentation from MRGO and transitioning to the Lake P Troll setup. That meant pulling out the spinning gear and switching over to baitcasting setup precision tools for precision work. The pieces were falling into place; now all we needed was the Silverwonders to cooperate.
SIGNS:
· Every action / event is a sign to me, i.e. how easy to hook trailer up, how easy to launch, meet up time kept all on time, etc. etc. so when I ran a trouble hook in me finger it was a sign. As I bled in Bay Flat Jr me knew I was going to tb a good day.
· Up at, tie a problem too, with daylight savings time we could no figure our correct time, all me knew was me wanted to be by trestles before daylight, we decided to meet up at 6AM, could have been 6:50 AM.
· Used lane that says EXIT only, got me butt chewed out for that move, no do again.
· Big don right on time, wind blowing hard, light rain, told him to come sit in truck for a while.
· After talking it over we decided to give it a try.
· Big don backed Bay Flat Jr down in water, 3 pulls on Yamaha Nightmare Machine and she be fired right up ready to go.
· Off to FB 2 to start our fun day on the water
· We were the only boat out, we beat them all out.

· Re-introduce Big Don to:
§ Lake P Troll technique / presentation
§ Bay Flat Jr
§ Lake P
· See if big girls are out & about.
· Not get skunked again
· Bring home some fishes for petite Lucy
· Find a spot # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:
1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (This criterion a none factor today, rough at first but laid down well)
2 MOVING WATER: (Falling all day, based on tide chart thought it would be coming in all day,?????)
3 WATER CALRITY: (A 2 minus, me would never fish that clarity of water, I would have left and gone home early, but intel did not lie)
4 HOLDING FISH: (Hay 11 bridge)
5 PATIENCES: (Took about 30 minutes to catch first one, then it was on, on, on, then it was off, off, off, got real slow and me not liking the water clarity at all so we called it around noon.)
6 SKILL: (Lake P trolling technique / presentation)
7 LUCKS: (Got some BIG girls and did not get wet)

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:
OUR REWARDS:
· Lived to fish another day.
· (13) Silverwonders
· (1) NMR big girl missed at boat, hung over side to long trying to flip her in
· (1) Flounder
· (8) Hang ups on bottom & pilings, but on lost 3 Lake P Trolling rigs
· Cool humid overcast day for our fun
· Being on the water with one of the best fisherpersons me know that be Big Don
· Lessons learned:
§ How to remove a hook from me finger, ran it all the way pass the barb into right middle finger, just kept playing with it and backed it out, happen first thing in AM even before me go line off Lake P Troll rig
§ Adding a snap swivel to Lake P Troll rig working really well to keep trailer lines from twisting all up
§ Silverwonders can be caught in dirty water, today we had a 2 minus on clarity, not good. If not for intel me never would have fished it.
§ Big girls (NMR’s) hard to flip n with flexible rods, they would hang over side and bang up against the Bat Flat Jr when trying to flip them in.
§ Silverwonders seem to want last trailer to hit, and the hit it like a Mack truck
· Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.
FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:
Big Don was a little rusty, missed Silverwonder of the day at the boat trying to flip her in, hung a few times, even had a backlash in his new trolling reel. I am sure next time out it will be a different story.
Oneofthepack had their number today, no skunked today, it was pure fun getting me revenge on those elusive Silverwonder, me take honors to day.
SUGGESTIONS:
Take a run to Gus net & tackle shop, get all the components for a Lake P Troll rig, he has a sample behind the counter, get them while he still has them, Lake P Toll rig should be good in Lake p until mid-May.
Best get you Gnat gear out, met a few today, and it is getting to that time of year for sure.
PONDER OF THE DAY:
"Sweet is the memory of distant fisherperson friends! Like the mellow rays of the departing sun, it falls tenderly, yet sadly, on the heart."
Q&A:
Can someone explain how water fell all day me thought it was supposed to come in, what going on????????
TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:
Tuesday our next journey, Big Rudy will be back at trestles to see if BIG girls are still around, until then:
Good Fishing
