Lake P Troll journey to Lake P

TEAM JO-JO:

Plan “A” with Big Tyrone: The Trip That Wasn’t

At our last Team Jo-Jo’s Fishing Curriculum Session, Big Tyrone, Big Rudy, and Oneofthepack locked in a plan for a Delacroix adventure. But as any seasoned angler knows, Mother Nature always has the final say.

Mission Status: ABORTED!

Upon checking conditions, Delacroix water levels were below 4 feet—not ideal unless me felt like turning Bay Flat Sr into a mud-skiff (which me did not). A quick call to Big Tyrone presented him with the options:

1️⃣ Take Bay Flat Jr to MRGO or Lake P for a backup fishing run.2️⃣ Wait for better conditions in Delacroix before making our move.

Big Tyrone made the call—he’d pass this time and wait for better water levels. Smart man!

Time to Get Back on the Water

Having been away from fishing for a while, me and Big Rudy agreed it was time to shake off the rust. Sunday’s Lake P wind forecast looked promising, so we put together a game plan—one that played to our strengths:

🎯 Target: The elusive Silverwonders🎣 Tactic: The tried-and-true Lake P Troll

Will the Silverwonders cooperate? Will the Loons show us the way? Only time will tell! Stay tuned…

·      Find a spot  # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (Had plenty of hard S.E. wind, but we be trolling so not much impact on our lures)

2 MOVING WATER: (Falling all morning, gain strength as the morning went along)

3 WATER CALRITY: (These criteria were our challenge for the day, water a 2 on a scale of 1-7)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Hwy 11 bridge)

5 PATIENCES: (Took all of 12 minutes for first hook up, but lost it reeling in, steady action for about an hour, ten it was over.

6 SKILL: (Lake P Troll technique / presentation.

7 LUCKS: (Silverwonders did not mind the dirty water.)

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Hwy 11 bridge (9), FB 5 to FB-3 nothing, stopped fishing around 9:20 AM, bites stopped, water getting rougher, head into safe harbor.

OUR REWARDS:

·      Lived to fish another day.

·      (8) Silverwonders, 1 Miniwonder

·      (1) BIG NMR missed reeling in got off

·      (1) Big NMR flipped him in, hit the gunnel, came off slid down gunnel big head in boat side, 60/40 chance me get her, 40 won she feel back in water, as usual she be biggest Silverwonder of the day, now others will have a shot at her too.

·      (8) hang ups, did not lose (1) rig

·      Some tasty snickers bar to eat, thanks to Big Rudy, me needed them

·      Being on the water with one of the best fisherpersons me know, Big Rudy be he.

·      Lessons learned:

§  Silverwonders are still out in Lake P, and they have plenty BIG girls for the taken.

§  Silverwonders still biting in dirty water

§  Bites seemed to be early, by 8:30 was all over

§  By adding a snap swivel to our Lake P Troll rig t seems as though it is stooping trailers from getting all twisted up, me think it a good technique to sue snap swivel.

·      Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Oneofthepack hooked first two fish, brought one in, but that action was all me had this morning, did manage a throw back that kept us interested , but me efforts today fell short for honors today.

Big Rudy was on a mission, one after another the big girls came in, one bigger than the last he brought in, Big Rudy be fisherperson of day 4 sure, but me knew that before we left the dock.

SUGGESTIONS:

We had to go to know” wind, dirty water, and we had some action.

Plus adding a swivel to our Lake P Troll rig is working really well by minimizing the twisting of our (2) trailers, you might want to do the same and let  us know how it works for you.

PONDER OF THE DAY:

"Happiness in intelligent fisherpersons is the rarest thing I know."

Q&A:

What is your biggest fishing deal-breaker/s?

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Early morning journey to Lake P and see if Silverwonders still out to play, until then:

Good Fishing
