TEAM JO-JO:
Monday, Big Rudy and Oneofthepack got together to map out their game plan for the week. First on the agenda was fishing Tuesday in Lake P, employing the tried-and-true Lake P Troll technique, specifically targeting the tight-lining holes around Lakeshore Estates. Lake P has always been a reliable spot for this technique, and with the cooler waters rolling in, the timing felt right to get out there and see what action we could stir up.
But the week wasn’t just about fishing—it’s also about refining our gear and skills. Wednesday was dedicated to some much-needed lunch at Southside, where Big Rudy was going to give me a full rundown on his new camera. As always, Rudy’s been at the forefront of capturing our adventures, and having the latest tech in his hands is sure to take our documentation game to the next level. I was eager to see what this new setup could do and how we could use it to improve our videos and fishing logs for Team Jo-Jo.
As we discussed our plans over lunch, we decided to bring the Bay Flat Sr back to her true home down in Delacroix Island—our very own Disney World. The Bay Flat Sr has been through many adventures with us, and after some time away, it was high time she returned to her rightful place. This move would position us perfectly for our next mission: Thursday’s full-scale assault on Delacroix, in search of the elusive Silverwonders and Redwarriors.
But here’s where it gets interesting. Just as we were launching Bay Flat Sr, as if the fishing gods themselves were watching over us, a fellow fisherperson—someone who follows Team Jo-Jo’s exploits closely—approached us. This seasoned angler had been out earlier and had hit pay dirt at Team Jo-Jo spot #26, a location we’re all familiar with but hadn’t recently visited. He’d had incredible success, hauling in catches all day long. The best part? He was wrapping up, heading back to Brandon, Mississippi, and generously shared his fresh intel with us.
That kind of information—handed over face-to-face, from one dedicated angler to another—is pure gold. Nothing gets more up-to-the-minute than a direct report from the field like that. This intel was the icing on the cake for our trip, giving us an edge before we even hit the water Thursday morning.
With Bay Flat Sr ready to launch, fresh tips in hand, and the crew buzzing with anticipation, Thursday is shaping up to be one for the books. Armed with Big Rudy’s camera, tight-lining lures, and the legendary Team Jo-Jo spirit, we’re on a mission to conquer Delacroix once more. The Silverwonders and Redwarriors better watch out—because Team Jo-Jo’s coming!
OUR REWARDS:
Lived to fish another day. Always the most important reward—still here, ready for the next trip.
Hooked a monster—a true mystery of the deep. Couldn’t turn him at all, fought hard, wore out the drag, and then… snap! No glimpse of him, but me guess it be an alligator lurking in the waters.
Caught (1) Flounder—proof they’re out and about in Lake P.
Landed (1) Catfish—not the intended target, but always fun to bring in.
Breathed in plenty of cool, fresh, dry air, filling our lungs and souls.
Witnessed a beautiful sunset, capping off a day on the water in perfect fashion.
Enjoyed a great lunch at Southside, as always. Southside never disappoints, fueling up for the day ahead.
Brought Bay Flat Sr back to her home port—she’s back where she belongs, looking happy as ever to return to her true home in Delacroix.
Transporting her was a breeze, no hiccups along the way—smooth sailing, literally and figuratively.
Big Rudy shared his editing knowledge, showing me how his camera works, and giving me a lesson on getting the best footage.
Checked out my own editing program, with Rudy walking me through additional tweaks and adjustments to improve our videos—Team Jo-Jo’s catching adventures about to go next-level.
Had a full day of fishing, boating, learning, and fun—the ultimate reward for any trip.
Lessons Learned:
Yamaha Night Machine is in prime shape—one pull, and she was purring like a dream, thanks to the new fuel line.
Lake P Trolling rigs are dialed in—got all six ready for action, primed and set for the fall season ahead.
Water clarity in Lake P was strong, clocking in at a solid 6. The conditions are getting there, though the Silverwonders haven’t shown up at the trestles just yet.
Flounder are definitely around in Lake P, which is a great sign, but still waiting on those schools of Silverwonders.
Not much bait in the water, and no Loons yet—and as we know, find the Loons, find the Silverwonders. The key to unlocking their whereabouts will be the first sightings of those birds.
Trestles still have a lot of hang-ups, proving tricky at times, but nothing that can’t be worked through.
Lakeshore Estates (LS) canal system showed impressive clarity at 6 plus, though it’s not quite ready for the Lake P Troll technique. But the good news? Silverwonders are in the LS canal system, so they’re making moves.
Water clarity from Lake P trestles to Treasure Island held steady at 6 plus, keeping the conditions favorable.
Need to get Bay Flat Jr’s running lights sorted out—those evening trips are coming up, and proper lighting is going to be crucial.
Best fishing trip of my life... until the next one!
Each trip brings new experiences, whether it’s the thrill of hooking a mystery monster or the small wins like figuring out gear or boat adjustments. The journey is as exciting as the destination, and it sounds like you’re already looking forward to that next big adventure. Tight lines for the future!
Good Fishing
