Lake P challenge Trestles action

TEAM JO-JO:

🎣 Team Jo-Jo Strike Back – Thursday Trestle Assault! 🎣

Our Monday mission had both Big Rudy & Oneofthepack fired up and itching to get back at them NMR BIG girls in Lake P along the trestles. 💪🐟

We were chompin’ at the bit, but…

·         Tuesday: Weather looked sour 🌧️—the fish (and us) would’ve needed slickers and survival suits.

·         Wednesday: Already booked! 🎢 Promised Vienne (Granddaughterofthepack) and her friend a tubing adventure, followed by a 1 PM lunch date. Can’t disappoint the family or the appetite!

So what do dedicated anglers do?Pivot. Plan. Pursue.

✅ Thursday became our new D-Day (Delight Day)!✅ Rods & reels pre-rigged with our go-to Lake P Troll technique/presentation✅ Bay Flat Jr—tuned up, gassed up, and locked in✅ Meet-up time: 5:30 AM sharp at The Pointe

We had the plan. We had gear. All that was left… was the catching.

Stay tuned for the full fishing report—let’s just say, the Silverwonders may have had plans, but so did Team Jo-Jo. 😎🎯

·         Catch what catch can.

·         Learn what learn can.

·         See if BIG girls are still around

·         Practice out Lake P Troll technique / presentation

·         Bring some fish for Big Pablo’s family & friends

·         Find a spot  # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (Wind not a factor, we are trolling, but it did keep us cool)

2 MOVING WATER: (Falling at first then came in, but not much strength, moving very slowly)

3 WATER CALRITY: (6 plus, green, clean, clear, looking good)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Mile marker 174 south too 3rd FB)

5 PATIENCES: (Dropped line at 6:06, 6:06 had a nice founder, action steady all day, patients not needed, did need some to avoid all other boats as we trolled)

6 SKILL: (Lake P Troll technique / presentation, playing Russian roulette with pilings, and art in its own)

7 LUCKS: (Finding sections along Hwy 11 bridge & trestles that we could drop lines a troll for a block or so.)

·         Tandem rig, ¼ oz. round H&H jig head with gold hook, matched up with Matrix Shad Lemon Drop …..Did not try.

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Hwy 11 bridge. Crossed over to trestles, mile maker 174 south to 3 FB, back on forth trolled all morning.

Need to doge all other boats, we had some short openings to troll 1- ½  blocks.

OUR REWARDS:

·         Lived too fish another day.

·         (23) Silverwonders, 7 Miniwonders

·         (12) Flounders

·         (3) Hardheads on plastic lures are not a good sign

·         Pilings hooked up 8, lost 2 Lake P Troll rigs.

·         Had (2) snickers bars good they be.

·         Mid-morning action, slow after that

·         Found some sections of trestles to troll, nit much had a lot of boats out and about.

·         Lessons learned:

§  Big Girls still along Hwy 11 bridge, but far & in-between they be.

§  Flounders along Hay 11 bridge too

§  Trestles had most of the action today, when we could find a section open to troll along.

§  Don’t catch a fish and hold it up, you will lose your spot to troll in no time, have a lot of sight fisherperson out and bayou.

§  When making a U-turn with Bay Flat Jr needs to go slow, as the waves come right inside Bay Flat Jr

§  Must be careful and exercise caution when flipping fish in, had (2) Hardhead catfish flying in Bay Flat Jr today.

§  When bites are on they on, when bites are off they off, seems there is no in-between.

·         Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Big Rudy caught 1st Flounder, 1st Silverwonder, had the biggest Silverwonder, but the last fish caught as biggest of the day, managed to put many in the box both flounder & Silverwonders, provided the snicker bars, but all this added up to not quite what needed for honors today.

Oneofthepack had the BIG girl of the day both Silverwonder & Flounder, it was close for the honors today, but captain felt Oneofthepack might have edge out mate, me be fisherperson of the day.

SUGGESTIONS:

Lake P Troll technique / presentation still working, might want to pass by Gus Net & Tackel and get what needed to rig up a Lake P Troll rig, Gus has a sample of it behind his counter for you to see, feel, touch,

PONDER OF THE DAY:

“Like they say, you can learn more from a guide in one day than you can in three months fishing alone.”

Might want to also come to Team Jo-Jo Fishing Curriculum Session 6 in June, this too you can accelerate your learning curve & learn a lot.

Q&A:

Do you prefer fishing by yourself or through group sports and activities?

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Friday trip with Big John, (meet him at our last Team Jo-Jo Session)  we planned a trip for tomorrow. We will be out and about in the Bay Flat Sr. running around Disney World, known as Delacroix Island, in search of the elusive Silverwonders & Redwarriors, sure hope we can find some action, until then:

Good Fishing
