Lake P challenge, lesson learned!

TEAM JO-JO:

A Trip Born from a 3-Hour Window

Once again, no plans were in place for a trip, but as me sat back sipping on my morning coffee, me couldn't help but glance at the weather report. The east wind was forecasted to pick up later in the day, but there was a beautiful 3-hour window of prime fishing conditions before that happened. That was all the excuse me needed!

A quick text to Big Rudy“You in?”—and within moments, my phone lit up with his reply: “Sure thing!” Just like that, the wheels (or should I say, propeller) were in motion for an impromptu Friday fishing adventure.

With my first mate secured, we were locked and loaded for a trip to Lake P aboard the Bay Flat Jr. This fine little craft can handle winds up to 8-10 mph with no problem, but today was going to be a real test—not just for the boat, but for the crew, the conditions, and the ever-elusive Silverwonders that call Lake P home.

The Plan:

  • Launch out of The Pointe, right as the water laid down.

  • Target Silverwonders using the tried-and-true Lake P Troll technique.

  • Stay nimble—if the wind picked up sooner than expected, we’d adjust on the fly.

As we geared up and made our way toward the launch, me could already feel that electric energy that comes with an unexpected fishing trip. The kind where you’re not just hoping to catch fish—you’re chasing the experience, the thrill of the unknown, and the chance to land a story worth telling at the next Team Jo-Jo Fishing Curriculum Session.

Would the Bay Flat Jr. prove herself in the chop? Would we find active Silverwonders along the trestles? One way to find out… Lines in the water, game on! 🎣🔥

·      Bring home some fishes for Familyofthepack

·      Find a spot  # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (This criterion was our kryptonite, as it was more then we expected it to be, Bay Flat Jr not made for 14-18 mph winds.

We had a 8 foot bow in the trolling line, made it hard to feel bottom and any bites we might get.)

2 MOVING WATER: (This criteria water was to be falling in morning, ES,E, wind was so strong it stopped water from falling and we had a slack tide.)

3 WATER CALRITY: (Lake P 3 minus, Eden Isle has a 6 plus, looked real good)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Kenny’s Seafood, all you want)

5 PATIENCES: (None need me was so concerned about wind it kept not thing about catching as we made our way in against 2 ½ to 3-foot rollers to The pointe)

6 SKILL: (Not taking on water & sinking)

7 LUCKS: (Live to fish another day)

·    Oneofthepack’s repertoire of Techniques / presentations:

OUR REWARDS:

·      Lived too fish another day.

·      Skunked

·      Had to come in wind & water was angry at the world

·      Fished Eden Isle canal system but skunked there too

·      Quick trip back at lunch for 9 AM

·      Lessons learned:

§  Sometimes you don’t “Have to go to know”

§  Eden Isle canal system not producing either

§  Need to always keep depth finder in boat, could have leaned a lot of Eden Isle canal system and Moonraker Lake too if me had it.

§  Big Ron does not schedule lunch, texted him we set up 11:30 at Southside, fried chicken the plan

·      Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

All those who stayed home today, they knew they did not have to go to know!

SUGGESTIONS:

Suggest you still believe our motto, “You got to go to know”

Might want to give Lake P a little time to clear up.

PONDER OF THE DAY:

"Fisherpersons don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy." Same with weather good or bad!

Q&A:

What is your perfect day to go fishing, Please describe your perfect day to go fishing.

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Next up Sunday trip to Delacroix with Big Rudy & Big Tyrone, hope we catch a few, until then:
