TEAM JO-JO:
On Wednesday, I decided to organize a lunch gathering at Bonnie "C"'s with the crew—Big Ronnie, Big Wayne, and Big Penny. Big Wayne had initially suggested Nathon’s, but I had a craving for some good fried chicken, and Big Ronnie was on board with the idea of Bonnie “C”'s as well. So, Bonnie "C"'s it was! We gathered there to catch up, exchange some fishing stories, and share a few laughs.
As we dug into our meals, the conversation drifted from fishing techniques to dice strategies, stock market jumps, and even some talk on the outcome of the election. The mix of topics kept things lively, and I found my mind jumping from one subject to the next. By the time we wrapped up, I was buzzing with thoughts. So, on my way home, I called Big Rudy to see what he was up to.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Nothing much,” he replied.
"Want to make an evening trip to LS and try some Top Dog fishing?”
"Save me a spot," he said. "Let's go!"
We made a plan to meet up at The Pointe around 3 PM and set off for an impromptu Top Dogging adventure aboard the Bay Flat Jr., targeting LS for the evening. There’s nothing like heading out on short notice, with just enough time to grab the gear and hit the water. The conditions seemed just right, and we were ready to test out those Top Dog lures, hoping the evening hours would bring the fish out to play.
All set for a memorable evening of fishing, we aimed to make the most of the twilight hours, hoping for a good catch and some classic stories to bring back for the crew. Here’s to spontaneity and the thrill of the chase on Bay Flat Jr.!

2 MOVING WATER: (Falling all evening, creating some perfect current lines in some areas)
3 WATER CALRITY: ( A 6 plus to 7 plus, looking great it be, would love to have it at Delacroix.)
4 HOLDING FISH: (East (LS) cuts & shoreline, even caught 1 bull in 20 plus feet of water on a cork. Big Rudy after dark was still getting hist with cork in 34 foot of water too)
5 PATIENCES: (We mad a stop at Big Ron’s top secret spot, nothing, but when we got to (LS) second cast had a blow up, shook me, me was not ready for it, 4th cast me caught a Miniwonder, it was slow going not much action, but we so engrossed in finding the blow ups no patients needed.)
6 SKILL: (Top Dogging, & Popping cork techniques / presentations)
7 LUCKS: (Me mention to Big Rudy, “Me just want to see one of those big sows blow up on our lines one time, (12) second later a BIG blow up, (like a boulder being dropped off a cliff) on Big Rudy’s lure, missed it. Me make a cast over there and BAM, (another boulder being drop off cliff) me hooked up. Me have danced with this BIG boy before, he won first round and popped me line, But this time me have him hooked good, drag set just right, me thinking a BIG sow, after pulling us around for a minute or so, got him to the boat, Big BULL Redwarrior. Got to see (2) BIG blow ups and landed one BIG Redwarrior.)

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:
Oneofthepack missed the first blow up, caught the first Silverwonder, caught the 1st bull Redwarrior on Top Dogs, me feeling real good that me might take the fisherperson of the evening, but the fish god had other plans, she be saying not so fast.
As we trolled along the shoreline to this point, the whole eater erupted, bait fish jumping out of the water. Big Rudy threw into spot, so did me, nothing, we both kept trying area but nothing. We continued our journey along the shoreline, got to the back but nothing.
On our way-out Big Rudy switched to popping cork, me to tightline ring to see if we could make them bite with different techniques / presentations.
Big Rudy missed 4-5 blow ups, including the BIG bull, Big Rudy caught his 1st Silverwonder on popping cork, then we made our way to where we saw the bait jumping out of water. Big Rudy threw his popping cork with Power Prawn 3 “ lure with yellow tail, as soon as it hit water it exploded, and the fight was on. Big Rudy had his BULL for the day and the bull was giving us a ride for sure.
The evening fishing resulted in a tie, 2T to 2R, so we will have to fish another day to take honors for that day.
SUGGESTIONS:
If you want some excitement on your trips give Top Dogs a try, use them early in AM, and late evening are the best times we think. When the sun is on horizon , (up/down) is the best time to fish them, we feel.
PONDER OF THE DAY:
“I’d rather regret the fishing I’ve done than regret the fishing I haven’t done”
Q&A:
If you were given unlimited resources, how would you lure the worst of fisherpersons into one stadium at the same time?
TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:
Off water till Monday, but next week will be a fishing week as Loveoftehpack out of town way the love away, pack will fish!!!! Until then:
Good Fishing
