Team Jo-Jo:
Big Ronnie, along with his first mate Big Chris, headed out for another exciting adventure today, this time targeting the Hopedale area. Their chosen spot? The well-loved Lake Robin and its surrounding waters. With Big Ronnie at the helm of his trusty 16’ Monark, paired with a 50 HP Mercury four-cycle engine, the crew enjoyed a smooth and swift ride, topping out at an impressive 36 mph. It wasn’t long before they reached their honey hole, eager to see what the day would bring.
The reward for their efforts?A bountiful catch that included:
50 fish total, a combination of Silverwonders and Whitewonders, with 38 Miniwonders adding to the mix
1 Bull Redwarrior, always a welcome sight and a reminder of the exciting battles these fish provide
A few catfish, thrown into the mix to keep things interesting
But it wasn’t just the fish that made the day memorable. Being out on the water with picture-perfect conditions was a reward in itself. There’s nothing quite like the serenity and beauty of a calm day on the water—sunshine reflecting off the surface, the gentle breeze, and the excitement of anticipation as each line drops.
Key to their success:
Fisherman’s friend live shrimp, always a reliable bait when targeting these waters, played a major role in their success.
Power Prawn Jr with a Yellow Tail, tipped with Fishbites, also proved to be an effective combo, helping fill the box and keeping the action steady throughout the trip.
While Big Ronnie did mention that Delacroix might have been an even better choice for fishing today, his deep affection for Lake Robin and its surrounding areas can’t be denied. It's one of those special spots, a reliable go-to when conditions are right and the fish are biting. Sometimes, it's not just about the numbers—it’s about revisiting familiar places that hold memories and promise.
In the end, the day was a grand success. With a well-stocked cooler and the satisfaction of a great day on the water, Big Ronnie and Big Chris headed back, already thinking about the next adventure.
Good Fishing,
Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack
