Friday windy Delacroix day

TEAM JO-JO:

Team Jo-Jo Trip Log – Weather Won’t Stop Us!Date: Friday (Pre-Storm Recon Mission)🎣🌧️🌬️

Originally, our Friday fishing crew was locked in — Big Jeff and his mom were set to join Oneofthepack aboard the Bay Flat Sr. But with weather forecasts flashing red flags (high winds, thunderstorms, and steady rain on the radar), I made sure to send them the latest predictions along with my honest assessment: “Catching chances are slim to none, but we still rolling.”

I left the final decision in their hands, with one reminder — Team Jo-Jo lives by the motto:“You got to go to know.”

Not long after, I got the call. Big Jeff and his mom decided to wait for calmer waters and clearer skies. No hard feelings — smart move for those who don’t want to battle the elements.

But me? Still going. 🎣😎So I fired off a quick text to Big Ron and Big Rudy, Team Jo-Jo’s die-hard duo — no hesitation, just two firm “I’m in!” replies. Just like that, the Bay Flat Sr had its first and second mates locked in for a Delacroix adventure, despite the elements.

·         Put some run time on the Bay Flat Sr and the Yamaha Dream Machine

·         See if spot # 51C still holding Silverwonders.

·         Run around find some new spots that have deep water & good current lines & holding fish.

·         Bring home some fish for Petite Yana

·         Find a spot  # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (This criterion was a challenge today, even with 2 Cajun anchors our it was hard to hold us in place had to find a lee shoreline to set up !)

2 MOVING WATER: (Had plenty all coming in strong, this be good just had to find an area where current not that strong.)

3 WATER CALRITY: (3 minus, this criterion was a challenge today too, don’t know if water will ever clean up at Delacroix.)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Spotty, not holding up in any particular one, just one here and there.)

5 PATIENCES: (Needed plenty, very slow day, me think, me and crew gave up early as we could not get to our spot # 51C.)

6 SKILL: (Tight lining)

7 LUCKS: (Needed plenty today, but I just could not make it happen)

·      Oneofthepack’s repertoire of Techniques / presentations:

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Post # 51C, (not in right spot) (1)t, (1)D, 51k, 51l, 51J, 51C, R15A (new spot ) (2)t, R14, R13A (New spot) (3)t, R10-R12- 51C, called it a day at 11:45 Am, just felt it was not going to happen.

OUR REWARDS:

·         Lived too fish another day.

·         (6) Silverwonders, 4 Miniwonders

·         (0) Redwarriors

·         (1) Submarine, (aka big ass drum) 38#, record for Bay Flat Sr.

·         (1) Gaff top

·         (3) extra poles

·         (1) Broken pole, me broke pulling anchor in, tide was so strong almost lost me anchor, pulled out of me hands, holding rod & anchor rope , rod gave  away.

·         Delicious peanut butter & pineapple sandwich, thanks to petite Gloria, me needed that today, had low energy losing me pole.

·         Being on the water with 2 of the best fisherpersons me know, they be Big Ron & Big Rudy.

·         Lessons learned:

§  When you have only one spot producing and someone already in  it, it is a bad start for a fun day on water.

§  We ran around , (Lake Robin area) in some new areas, learn 3 new spots, (perfect set up, deep water & real nice current lines)  to try & fish in future.

§  Not catching fish sucks!!!!!!

§  Always have a plan “B” Kenney’s seafood works best for this strategy!

§  Me confused on what gong on at Delcroix, me just could not make it happen today.

§  Still subscribe to motto, “You got to go to know”

§  Need to secure anchor before me throw overboard to anchor Bay Flat Sr, that way no can lose anchor.

§  Learn a new saying today, “sometimes you are the dog, sometimes you are the fire hydrant”

·         Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Big Ron struggled all day, his best catch & dominated was the extra poles which he did twice, managed a Miniwonders to stop from being skunked, got extra points for peanut  butter & jelly sandwich, but all this effort feel short for today’s honors.

Oneofthepack had his run in with extra poles too, broke one of me favorite poles, managed 2 Silverwonders, and a gaff top, me efforts too was just not enough for honor today.

Big Rudy had 3 Silverwonders, and a submarine to his credit, all of which gained him fisherperson of the day, but when Big Rudy cannot catch, it be a none catching day for sure.

SUGGESTIONS:

None if me knew we would have caught fish today. Don’t do what we did today.

PONDER OF THE DAY:

“Sometimes you are the dog, sometimes you are the fire hydrant” as stated by Big Ron today.

Q&A:

When do you know it time to call a trip and go home?

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Back at them in AM, Big Willima, (Grandsonoftehpack ) & Big Keey (his friend ) will be out and about Delacroix  try to find some action, until then.

Good Fishing
