Team Jo-Jo – Fishing Curriculum Session 2 of 2025📅 Date: 2-15-25👥 Crew: 21+ attendees, including 4 new participants
Session Overview:
Today’s session was another exciting gathering focused on sharing, learning, and refining the art of fishing and catching. With a strong crew turnout and the addition of new members, the discussions were lively and packed with valuable insights.
Topics Covered:
Indian Ron’s Trolling Rig:
Indian Ron showcased his trolling rig (see attached pictures), which he successfully uses up north for White Bass and has been testing around the MRGO with promising results.
The group discussed plans to try it along the Lake P trestles and observe how the Silverwonders respond.
A productive Q&A followed, covering presentation techniques, rig modifications, and adjustments for local conditions.
Big Rudy’s Jerk Bait Presentation:
Big Rudy introduced one of his go-to jerk baits for MRGO and targeting the BIG girls.
He shared his strategy of rotating through different jerk baits on each trip to determine what triggers the most strikes.
Gear Swap & Equipment Exchange:
Big Hugh brought a new boat chair and stern light for anyone who could use them, emphasizing the value of redistributing unused gear among the crew.
Oneofthepack offered a 24V, 71# thrust trolling motor, which Big Hugh gladly took home.
Fishing Reports & Insights:
Big Don shared a detailed report on his last trip to Delacroix, discussing water conditions, tide movement, and catching patterns.
The group examined a modified Lake P Troll Rig, now equipped with a snap swivel on the trailer line to attach a ¾ oz. jig head—this tweak minimizes line twisting, especially when using squids.
A breakdown of avoiding hang-ups along the trestles and how different tide conditions impact trolling performance was discussed.

Team Jo-Jo’s Monday Trip Recap: A firsthand look at trolling the Lake P trestles with the modified Lake P Troll Rig, showcasing the action and catching of (NMR) Silverwonders.
(Wednesday’s skunking conveniently left out of the footage!)
Breakout Discussions:
The session naturally split into smaller discussions, with members diving deep into specific topics of interest, from lure modifications to scouting new spots. The energy was high as everyone engaged in the shared passion for fishing and improving their techniques.
Bonus: Biloxi Boat Show Trip
A few of the crew decided to take a spontaneous ride to Biloxi, Mississippi, to check out a boat show. The main takeaway? Bay Flat Sr. and Bay Flat Jr. are looking better than ever, especially after seeing the sky-high prices of today’s new boats!
Wrap-Up:
Team Jo-Jo’s Fishing Curriculum Session 2 concluded around 1:15 PM after two hours of valuable discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Another successful session in the books—until next time!
🎣 Good Fishing!Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack
