Delacroix windy & cool day challenge

TEAM JO-JO:

🎣 Team Jo-Jo Report – Back in the Saddle! 🛥️🐟

Team Jo-Jo been feeling like a fish out of water—winds, rain, muddy water, doctor appointments, and all sorts of land-based distractions had us floundering around for too long. The itch to fish was real, and the Bay Flat Sr needed to stretch her legs.

So today, the stars aligned, and we answered the call of the marsh!

The Crew:Big Ron – a.k.a. Indian Ron, camera man extraordinaire, keeper of the memories• Big Rudy – Silverwonder whisperer and seasoned deckhand• Oneofthepack – captain, storyteller, and marsh veteran with saltwater in his veins

We launched out of Sweet Delacroix Island, our home away from home—our Disney World on the water—with high hopes, tight lines, and a cooler full of optimism. 🎯🎣

Mission Objective:Seek out and engage the elusive Silverwonders and fearless Redwarriors roaming the vast Louisiana marshland.

With the Bay Flat Sr humming, rods rigged, and the crew all-in, we hit a few of our Team Jo-Jo honey holes, ready for action.

No matter the results, it was a day filled with laughs, boat banter, marsh serenity, and the kind of memories that make all the prep work worth it.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the fish—it’s about the fellowship, the chase, and that moment the cork disappears, or the line tightens and your heart skips a beat.

💥 Stay tuned for the full catch report, pictures, and video footage from Big Ron’s new magic camera.

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (This criterion was definitely  our challenge of the day, being out of the south we had plenty spot numbers to have it at our back, plus we used it to do Oak River Toll technique too.)

2 MOVING WATER: (Had plenty, pouring in all day, even had some current line  to fish around various points)

3 WATER CALRITY: (Another challenge, 2 minus to 3 minus, depending on where we be at, seem the further north we went the better the water looked.)

4 HOLDING FISH:  (Spotted, one here and there)

5 PATIENCES: (Needed plenty, but being off water for so long it was great being back on water to learn what learn can.)

6 SKILL: (Kowing when is when to call it a day)

7 LUCKS: (Knowing where Kenny’s Seafood is located)

§  🎣 Reflections from the Marsh – A Trip Back in Time 🧭

·         Today, I felt a feeling I hadn’t felt in a long time—like the very first time I ever fished the legendary waters of Delacroix, over 65 plus years ago. That same spark, that same curiosity, that same hunger to learn every ripple and bend of the marsh came rushing back.

·         We weren’t just fishing—we were exploring. Pushing into uncharted areas, places we’d never fished before. It felt like starting fresh, trying to unlock new secrets the marsh holds close to her muddy chest.

·         We spent the day studying the water like old-school marsh scholars:• Measuring depths• Following channel edges• Noting drop-offs and current lines• Feeling the type of bottom• Testing how different winds work with each spot

·         All of it logged in the memory bank for future Team Jo-Jo recon missions.

·         It’s trips like these that remind me:🧭 The journey never ends. There’s always more to discover, always new places to fish, and always something the marsh is willing to teach—if you’re willing to listen.

·         Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Who else but Big Rudy, lead Silverwonder division, dominated flounder, & red category, even had an alligator run or two at his cork as he be fishing,

Big Ron and Oneofthepack had a challenging day, not much action, but we both learned a lot running around and mostly watching Big Rudy perform his specialty, catching fish as the day went along

SUGGESTIONS:

Don’t do what we did.

Not sure what is going on at Delacroix, water is always dirty, shrimp not in yet, seems all is a little late this spring season.

Guess we will have to spend our efforts in Lakr P to see if we can get on a few fish.

PONDER OF THE DAY:

"Time is but lake P I go a-fishing in. I drink at it; but while I drink I see the sandy bottom and detect how shallow it is. Its thin current slides away, but eternity remains."

Q&A:

How to fish & bait migrate in & out of the marsh, and why do trout bites stop all of a sudden, come to our Team Jo-Jo meeting this Saturday and get some answers on this question / topic, as Big Rudy dives into it all at our focus topic of the meeting!

TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Fishing on hold, Thursday shopping for all needed for hot tamales & baby shower, hot tamale making party, (Tamales for baby shower, anyone wanting to learn to make hottamalesofthepack, stop by and help us make them)  Friday, Team Jo-Jo meeting Saturday. baby shower for Big Burgan Saturday afternoon, recovery day Sunday, no fishing plans in near future to be had, until then:

Good Fishing
