Delacroix High Water

Team Jo-Jo:

Got a few emails and texts regarding the water levels down at Delacroix and the potential impact they may have on Bay Flat Sr, so I decided to take a ride down to check out the actual conditions firsthand.

Upon arrival, I noted that Bay Flat Sr had about 2 feet of clearance before hitting the water at its bottom.

To be on the safe side, I raised it another 2 feet. Better to be cautious than caught off guard! Interestingly, I saw 3-4 families fishing along Delacroix Hwy, catching crabs and fish. The wind was blocked in some areas, making it not too bad despite the conditions.

The water level was up 24 to 36 inches, and Delacroix Hwy had some water on it. With a 20-25 plus mph east wind, it was quite the scene. Despite this, there were still 16-18 boats that went out fishing. It's impressive how resilient and determined our fellow anglers are!

This situation reminded me that sometimes, "You don’t have to go to know," and this may have been one of those times. However, getting out there and seeing it with my own eyes provided invaluable insight.

Good Fishing,

Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack
