TEAM JO-JO:
Fishing Report – Team Jo-Jo – July 31, 2025Mission: Seek & Battle the Bullish Redwarriors of the Causeway
Once again, the calendar and the migration patterns told us it was time to pivot. With Delacroix’s Silverwonders getting shy and the summer heat pushing bait into deeper and saltier waters, the word on the water was clear: the Bulls are back at the Causeway. And when Big Rudy gets credible intel—especially from sources who still smell like mullet and sweat—we listen.
🎣 Mission Launch:
Date: Thursday, July 31, 2025
Team: Big Rudy (Captain), First Mate of the Day , Oneofthepack (Fishing Instigator)
Vessel: Big Rudy’s 21’ Avid, powered by the 150 HP Yamaha Dream Machine
Fully rigged with:
Side imaging sonar
GPS chart plotter
Spot-lock trolling motor
Cooler full of frozen water, snickers bars water and an array of lures.
📍 Location:
Lake Pontchartrain – Causeway Bridge Zone
Targeting zones around bridge pilings and drop-offs in 10-15 ft depths, particularly around mid-lake structure points.
🎯 Target Species:
Redwarriors – especially the big bull-class ones, full of attitude and drag-burning potential.
Bonus: Drum-line bruisers, and the occasional rogue Silverwonder (for good measure)
🧠 Strategy:
Trolling motor with spot lock to hold near pilings for casting precision.
About choice:
Matrix shad lures
3/8 oz. jig heads
Rods & Reels: Medium-heavy spinning setups spooled with 20 lb. braid and 20 lb. mono leader – nothing dainty when Bulls are in session
💥 Team Jo-Jo Spirit:
This wasn’t just another fishing trip—it was a call to arms. When the Bulls show up and start acting like they run the bridge, Team Jo-Jo doesn’t back down—we show up.Full throttle. Full gear. Full attitude. And if those Redwarriors want a fight? We’ve got drag to burn and hooks to set.

· (0) Silverwonders
· (7) Redwarriors, 5 bulls, 1 slot, 1 Ratwarrior
§ Arrived at 6:30 A, ^;41 we had a couple hook up, Big Rudy got his in, my line popped.
§ (2) Bi Boys popped our line
· (4) Puppy Drum
· (2) Banna fish
· (1) Sting Ray

· Lunch at Triple Nickel in Madisonville
· Fishing in style, 21’ Avdi,150hp Yamaha, all the electronics ever need, and GPS spot lock trolling motor.
· Quick, easy trip came in before it got hot.
· Being on the water with the best fisherperson I know , be Big Rudy
· Lessons learned:
§ Intel / info correct.
§ Water clarity a 6 plus, looked good.
§ I need to check & verify on what rods & reels I bring on a trip like this, the one I picked was low online on spool, could cast but the Big boys kept spooling me. Luckily the line on spool was tied correctly and line just popped at mono leader.
§ Ned to confirm drag set on ever trip before fishing.
§ Need to buy some matrix Green Hornets, Big Rudy was on, on, with lure.
§ Now convince GPS spot lock is a necessity
· Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.
FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:
Big Rudy of course, first fish, biggest fish, most fish, his boat, and even provided the snicker bars that is one hell of a line us for honors today.
Oneofthepack danced with 2 BULLS, 2 puppy drums, and even got a banana fish to my efforts, but not enough for honors today.
SUGGESTIONS:
Me was convinced today that a GPS / Snap lock trolling motor is the only way to go, guess me be buying one for Bay Flat Jr soon.
If you are looking for some flights to strengthen your forearms, hit the causeway and spend time with the BULLS!!
PONDER OF THE DAY:
"A woman who has never seen her husband fishing doesn't know what a patient man she married!" -
Q&A:
What’s the most important lesson you learned from a terrible fishing experience?
§ Share so others can learn
TEAM JO-JO’S future stratagem:

Good Fishing
