Catching history vs. today's conditions

Team Jo-Jo:

As I review my past fishing/catching diary and reflect on the trips that we’ve made over the years, it’s clear that this fall could be a standout season. Comparing our current fishing experiences to the productivity of last year, there are several factors that seem to indicate that the conditions this year may be aligning in our favor. Last year, we faced a mix of challenges, such as low water levels and saltwater pushing upriver, which impacted our success rates in certain areas. But with those challenges now behind us, I’m feeling optimistic that 2024 could be a banner year for some of Team Jo-Jo’s old fishing spots—areas that were once incredibly productive before the Mississippi River’s freshwater flow took a toll on them.

In particular, spot #64 (located in Team Jo-Jo zone 2) stands out as a favorite. For over a decade, from 2005 to 2017, this spot and its surrounding areas were reliable producers of Redwarriors and Silverwonders. The memories of catching there, year after year, still fuel my excitement, and I’m hopeful that the fall will see a return to that same level of productivity. It feels like the perfect time to revisit our “inside spots”—those marked as #1-64 in Team Jo-Jo’s zones 1 and 2.

Fall fishing holds a lot of promise, especially with conditions improving. We’ll be targeting those classic inside spots that have served us well for so many years, taking full advantage of the ideal fall conditions. I’m eager to get out on the water and see what’s waiting at spots #1-64—places that have given us so many great catches over the years.

For those who are interested in learning more about where we fish and how we approach these spots, I invite you to check out Team Jo-Jo on YouTube. We’ve shared the exact locations of our spot numbers, along with detailed narratives on how we fish each one. It’s a great resource for anyone looking to gain some insight into the techniques and strategies we’ve developed over time.

Be sure to subscribe to our channel so you don’t miss any updates or new videos. We’ll be sharing plenty more as we continue our fishing adventures, and I’m excited to keep everyone informed as we head into what promises to be a fantastic season.

Good fishing

Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack
